Presbyterians walking

Last August we reported Lutherans Stretch & Pray. Now PCUSA National Health Ministries announce their latest program "Let's Get Moving! A Walking Program for Congregations". It offers ways that congregations can help many Presbyterians practice good stewardship of their bodies and health by encouraging regular exercise through walking programs. Maybe they could incorporate the Cardiovascular Bible Training.

American Gladitors reinvented for Epiphany

NBC is reinventing the classic competition series American Gladiators and is currently filming a brand new series with new Contenders and a new team of Gladiators for their upcoming premiere season. Hulk Hogan and Laila Ali (Muhammad Ali's daughter) will be the brand new hosts for the series which airs 6th January 2008 on NBC.
That day is Epiphany (Greek: επιφάνεια, "appearance" or "manifestation") - a Christian feast intended to celebrate the "shining forth" or revelation of God to mankind in human form, in the person of Jesus. Some Christians commemorate the visitation of the Magi to the child Jesus on this day, while others use the day to commemorate the baptism of Jesus as an adult.

pastoral running

Kent Shaffer delivers seven quick biblical lessons about running. That doesn't necessarily mean that great runners turn out to be great ministers or vice versa. But at least there are interesting guidelines for people engaged in both fields.

Sporting TopVerses

TopVerses.com is a new online tool that lets you search the Bible by keyword and sorts the results by verse popularity.
The most sporting Bible Verse, 1 Corinthians 9:24, unfortunately just ranks 1135 out of 31,101 verses. That's a oxymoron because it says:

"Don't you know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run like that, that you may win."

Cardiovascular Bible Training

Mary Fairchild posted a review of the GoBible:

"My very favorite feature of the GoBible is the 'Hear in a Year' program. It's a 'Bible in a Year' listening plan that takes you through the entire Bible in 365 days. I really enjoy listening to the Bible while I walk for exercise. In fact, I've been listening on my iPod for about a year now. But the one draw back is there's no real system for keeping track of my progress through the Bible, and I have felt like I was just wandering through the Word aimlessly. However, now that I have the GoBible's daily program, it's so easy to stay on task while I walk. Each daily segment is divided into 12-15 minutes of listening and incorporates a variety of passages from both the Old and New Testament. Having this simple method to track my progress is a real motivator, both for listening and walking!"
